S.O.S. Outreach Ministries

S.O.S. Outreach Ministries
The Savior's Outreach @ Stono, or S.O.S., is what we call the various community missions we do throughout the year.
At Stono, we believe,
"people don't care what you know, until they know that you care."
We are very dedicated to and involved in community-wide mission projects throughout the year. Here are just a few of the missions that Stono is actively involved in throughout the year.

The Blessing Basket
This ministry provides grocery-relief to the needy, aged, and disabled throughout the community. We also provide used furniture, appliances, and housewares to persons in need at no cost.
|
|
Nehemiah 2:18 Construction Ministry
This ministry provides minor home repairs and wheel chair ramp assistance for senior citizens and disabled persons in the community.
|
|
Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic Partners
We are pleased to maintain a partnership with Church of Our Savior of Johns Island that enables persons in need to obtain free medical care and medications.
|
|
Hispanic & Migrant Ministry Support
We are involved with various missions that are designed to reach the Hispanic community for Jesus Christ. We serve as a host site for mission teams who minister to the migrant worker population during the summer.
We also partner with various churches and organizations to help provide assistance to the grwoing Hispanic population on the Barrier Islands.

Island Oaks Living Center Ministries
We have an ongoing relationship with this rehabilitation center on Johns Island that serves as a rest-home for the aged. We serve in various capacities of ministry to this center and those who live there.

Sea Island Rural Housing
We provide mission assistance in various areas to this multi-housing facility in the community. From food distribution to Bible study, we enjoy an ongoing and vibrant relationship with this facility and its residents.

|
Prison Ministry
We are involved in various missions and ministries at Leeds Avenue County Jail, McDougal Correctional Facility, and Leiber Correctional Facility.
|
|
Crisis Ministries
We are involved in various capacities of outreach with Crisis Ministries of Charleston, which provides assistance to the homeless in the Charleston Metropolitan area.
|
|
C.I.A. @ St. Johns High School
We have been blessed to hold Pizza Break Bible Lunches at St. Johns High School on Johns Island since 2004. This is a great partnership with Invest In Children, an organization dedicated to reaching young people for Christ. We have established Christians In Action, a student leadership organization in the student body at St. Johns as well.

Transportation Ministry
In an effort to meet the needs of the community, we have been blessed to be able to offer transportation to and from activities at the church for those who don't have it otherwise. Our vans run throughout the community on each day we have services and activities.
All Drivers and assistants in our transportation ministry voluntarily submit to and have a clean security background check.
